Controls Engineer – Control Systems

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Controls Engineer who enjoys hands-on work with advanced systems in a fast-paced, technical environment. In this role, you’ll support and troubleshoot cutting-edge automation technologies that power critical facilities across multiple industries. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, contribute directly to system reliability and performance, and gain exposure to a wide range of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage point-to-point wiring terminations, device checkouts, and drawing markups
  • Assist with setup and installation of field devices per project specifications and schematics
  • Calibrate instrumentation and valve actuators and support field start-up activities
  • Execute checkout and start-up of control systems (DCS, PLC, etc.) and network components
  • Troubleshoot control systems at the network, controller, I/O, and device levels
  • Set up, configure, and maintain PC-based workstations in automation environments
  • Provide technical support for customer contracts, including preventive maintenance and emergency services


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering is preferred – Associate degree (HVAC, MET, EET) with 2+ years of relevant experience will be considered
  • Experience with DCS, PLC, HMI, and/or DDC systems (Exposure to Emerson DeltaV, Wonderware, or Rockwell platforms is a plus)
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as Ethernet, Modbus, and BACnet (serial/TCP)
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and system drawings
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work near high-voltage electrical systems
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules based on project and customer needs
