Job Overview

A major industrial mining operation is actively seeking multiple skilled Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanics to support underground operations in the Detroit area. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of heavy mining equipment.

Position Overview

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and major component rebuilds
  • Work on equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, dozers, excavators, drills, and conveyors
  • Use technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues
  • Complete welding and structural repairs as needed
  • Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
  • Follow strict safety standards in an underground mining environment

Ideal Candidate Background

  • 4+ years of experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
  • Experience working on dozers, loaders, excavators, haul trucks, or similar equipment
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems troubleshooting
  • Michigan Mechanic Certification (Required)
  • CAT (Caterpillar) certification strongly preferred
  • Ability to work underground in demanding conditions
  • Ability to work 55+ hours per week with varying shifts (days/nights/weekends)
