A major industrial mining operation in Detroit is seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner / Supervisor to help drive equipment reliability, safety, and operational performance at one of the most unique industrial facilities in North America.

Position Overview
The Maintenance Planner – Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities while also providing leadership and technical support to maintenance personnel.
This role works closely with operations, maintenance teams, contractors, and storeroom personnel to reduce downtime, improve equipment reliability, maintain safe operating conditions, and ensure compliance with industry safety standards.
The position supports both preventive and predictive maintenance programs and plays a key role in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule maintenance work orders and develop detailed job plans using CMMS systems
- Coordinate daily and long-term maintenance activities to minimize operational disruptions
- Provide leadership and support to maintenance technicians and shift personnel
- Ensure compliance with MSHA safety standards and company safety procedures
- Manage and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Coordinate contractors, shutdowns, and major overhaul activities
- Maintain accurate equipment history and maintenance records in CMMS systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control system issues
- Support capital projects and equipment upgrades
- Conduct field inspections in both surface and underground environments
Ideal Candidate Background
- 5+ years of maintenance planning or maintenance leadership experience
- Experience in heavy industrial environments such as mining, steel, cement, aggregates, manufacturing, and/or heavy process industries
- Strong troubleshooting abilities across mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience with CMMS systems (SAP preferred)
- Knowledge of hydraulics, diesel equipment, welding and rigging, and industrial electrical systems
- Exposure to PLC systems and Allen-Bradley controls preferred
- Comfortable working in underground mine environments with variable shifts
